In an unexpected move, the United States Postal Service has pushed their timetable forward from May 2011 to April 2011 for their next rate increase. This increase affects First Class Mail, Standard Mail, International First Class Mail and all special services.

This rate increase has one major nuance that has never been seen in any previous postal increases. The First Class one ounce letter rate will remain unchanged at .44 cents during this rate change and only the First Class rates for items weighing 1.1 ounce to 13 ounces are being changed. -
USPS Officially Announces a January 2011 Rate Change

The United States Postal Service has recently announced their plans for a postal rate change on January 2, 2011. This rate change will include the postal products of Priority Mail, Express Mail and Package Services. The postal service was working towards a rate change that would have included First Class Mail as well but that proposal was rejected by the postal rate commission and is now not expected to happen until May of 2011.
